PARTH R. JAIN

Parth is a dual-qualified lawyer, admitted as an attorney in New York, and as an advocate and solicitor in India. He has over 10 years of post-qualification experience working as a disputes attorney. Parth has appeared before courts and tribunals in India and New York. He advises corporates, private equity investors, banks, non–banking financial institutions and high–net worth individuals on a broad range of domestic and international issues.

 

Parth has previously worked as a Disputes Attorney at premier Indian law firms - AZB & Partners and DSK Legal, with a focus on representing domestic and international clients in high value commercial disputes. He completed his LL.M. in International & Comparative Law with highest honors from George Washington University, USA (GW) during which time he served as a research assistant to Prof. Paul Schiff Berman (former Dean of GW). Parth was awarded the Thomas Buergenthal Scholarship at GW for academic merit.

 

Parth has also worked as a Disputes Attorney in the New York office of a leading US law firm – Chugh LLP. At Chugh LLP, Parth advised and represented clients in contractual disputes before various fora including in court hearings, arbitrations, and mediations. He also served on the Board of South Asian Bar Association of New York (SABANY), a voluntary bar association for attorneys in New York.

 

Parth’s extensive global experience, both in India and the U.S., has helped him develop a keen and nuanced understanding of the law. This enables him to distill relevant legal issues from complex, fact intensive cases, notwithstanding the industry involved. Having practiced and also completed an LL.M. in the field of alternate dispute resolution, Parth is well-equipped to handle any contentious disputes outside the courtroom too.

PURU R. JAIN

Puru is a dual-qualified lawyer, licensed to practice law in New York and India. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Georgetown University, Washington D.C., and has extensive experience working with members on both sides of the Bar.

Puru served as a law clerk to Hon’ble Justice Indu Malhotra, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Justice K.K. Tated, Bombay High Court, and Hon’ble Justice Vineet Kothari, Karnataka High Court. He gained significant experience working with Mr. Sachin Mandlik (ex-Khaitan & Co.) in his independent practice in Mumbai, where he handled various arbitrations across the country as well as commercial disputes before the Bombay High Court and NCLT.

Puru further honed his expertise in New Delhi while working in the Chambers of Mr. Zoheb Hossain (Senior Standing Counsel for the Income Tax Department and Special Counsel for the Directorate of Enforcement). There, he assisted in representing the Income Tax Department and the Directorate of Enforcement before the Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court, among other forums. Following this, he ventured out to establish Jain Law Partners in Mumbai.

 

Puru regularly appears before the Bombay High Court, ITAT, NCLT, and various other tribunals. He regularly advises clients in complex questions of law and assists in pre-litigation strategy in relation to commercial, civil, and tax disputes before Courts and Tribunals.

KUNAL D. LUNAWAT

Kunal is a commerce graduate as well as a law graduate from Pune University. Before joining Jain Law Partners, Kunal had worked for over 9 years with the renowned CA firm M/s. R. I. Jain & Co. at Bandra, Mumbai. Kunal has extensive experience in the fields of taxation, corporate law, amalgamation & mergers, and cooperative laws. Kunal regularly appears in criminal and civil matters before the Bombay High Court and District / Session Courts, ITAT, NCLT, and Registrar of Companies. He has over 10 years of experience in taxation and allied laws.

Kunal is enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa, Bar Council of India, and is also registered on the Original Jurisdiction of the Hon’ble Bombay High Court.
